We are a small family owned and operated MOFGA certified organic farm located in the town of Skowhegan in central Maine. We have 40 beautiful acres on Currier Hill which afford us spectacular views of the Kennebec River Valley and the coastal mountains. This location also gives us a unique “micro-climate” that warms up earlier and remains frost-free later than many of the surrounding areas.
We are just on the border between USDA Hardiness Zones 5a and 4b which means that it can get down between 15 and 25 degrees below zero in the winter. We've had it get down to 30 below occasionally and THAT'S pretty darn cold! (map courtesy of University of Maine Cooperative Extension).
We
have been growing fresh native produce, as well as flowers for cutting and a wide assortment of unique and hardy perennials for the past 16 years.
Before moving to Maine in 1992, we had a small 5 acre farm in Somerset, CA in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about an hour from South Lake Tahoe. Today, that region is home to some of the best wineries in the country. You can check them out here - El Dorado Winery Association. Our favorite is Fitzpatrick Winery and Lodge.
